Canada Building Materials' Community Involvement

Our responsibility doesn't end when the concrete sets. We are part of the neighbourhoods where we operate, and we are committed to leaving them better than we found them. Through Canada Building Materials' community involvement, we’re focused on social transformation - listening to our neighbours, Acting with Ownership, and generating shared value that will last. We don’t just build the physical foundations of our cities; we help build the heart of communities.

Commitment to Volunteering

CBM community partnerships grow out of real conversations. We listen to what matters to our neighbours, our employees, and our local partners, and we respond with actions that address those needs. That is why our involvement looks different from one community to the next. It reflects the diversity of our people, the causes they care about, and the relationships they have built over time.

Across our VCNA family of operations, team members have volunteered thousands of hours to support important causes. Our initiatives have included community clean-ups in Toronto and Aberfoyle, road clean-up efforts, food sorting shifts with the Daily Bread Food Bank, and hands-on build days with Habitat for Humanity in Northumberland, Kitchener in 2025, and Brampton and Caledon in 2026. Teams have also supported local charity golf events across Caledon, Aberfoyle, and Brock Township, assisted with community gatherings such as the Aberfoyle Fall Fair, participated in Earth Day tree planting initiatives, and contributed time as volunteer members with Friends of Mill Creek.

Alongside these efforts, donations have been made to numerous local causes, further extending our community impact. These construction industry community initiatives are not organized from a distance. They come from people on the ground who know their communities well and want to contribute in ways that are practical and meaningful.

At VCNA, volunteering is a direct expression of Our VC Way. By leaning into Trust and Simplicity, we empower our teams to identify where they can have the most impact. Whether it’s a team-led local fundraiser or a company-wide initiative, we encourage this involvement because it strengthens our sense of belonging and creates a Sustainable Legacy. Through Open Dialogue with our neighbours, we ensure our efforts are authentic, impactful, and precisely what our communities need to thrive for generations to come.

Local Impact, Global Spirit

While our hands-on work happens across Ontario and Quebec, we are part of a global movement of service. Our team’s dedication to volunteering is a testament to a social fabric that values people above all else.

Environmental Stewardship in Our Backyards

Our teams across all business units take personal responsibility for the natural spaces surrounding our operations. From participating in local river cleanups to crews in the GTA dedicating time to restoring community trails and planting trees, we ensure the land we share remains a vibrant resource for our neighbours.

Rapid Response and Local Healthcare

When our neighbours are in trouble, we are there to help. This commitment to being ethical and respectful is visible in our long-standing support for regional healthcare, including significant team-led fundraising and donations for local hospitals and medical infrastructure that our own families rely on.

Investing in the Next Generation

We take pride in projects that provide lasting results for youth. Our employees are the ones sponsoring minor league sports, building accessible “eco-patios” for children with disabilities, and ensuring CBM trucks are a staple in local Santa Claus parades and community festivals.

Food Security and Emergency Relief

Through Open Dialogue with local agencies, we stay alert to the needs of our hometowns. Our teams lead the charge in matching employee contributions for local food banks, especially during harsh winters, ensuring that no neighbour is left behind during a crisis.
